Black Forest Labs Raises $300 Million at a $3.25 Billion Valuation

Black Forest Labs is a category-defining visual intelligence company dedicated to building frontier models for pixels—systems capable of creating and understanding the visual world. The company leverages its state-of-the-art generative AI models to unify perception, generation, and reasoning, providing tools that transform imagination into reality for both global enterprises and independent artists.

Black Forest Labs has raised $300 million in a Series B funding round, bringing its valuation to $3.25 billion. The round was co-led by AMP and Salesforce Ventures, with support from a combination of new and existing investors, including Andreessen Horowitz, General Catalyst, and Nvidia, along with BroadLight Capital, Creandum, Earlybird VC, and Northzone.

Black Forest Labs, headquartered in Freiburg Im Breisgau, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany, was founded in 2024 by Robin Rombach, Andreas Blattmann, and Patrick Esser. “We built Black Forest Labs to advance visual intelligence at the frontier, and we’re proud to be doing so from both our hometown in southern Germany and the heart of innovation in San Francisco. Visual AI is shifting from impressive image generation to genuine understanding and the market for our products is growing rapidly as a result. This is just the beginning. We’re building multimodal models that unify perception, generation, and reasoning – foundational infrastructure for how we’ll shape and experience the visual world,” said Black Forest Labs co-founder and CEO Robin Rombach.
